Ghost Train Orchestra
The Ghost Train Orchestra was formed in 2006 after Brian Carpenter was hired as the music director for an event marking the 90th anniversary of an historic theater in Boston. Since then the band has been performing reimagined arrangements of lost and surreal music from the late 1920s and 1930s. Their debut album "Hothouse Stomp" (2011) was subsequently featured on NPR's Fresh Air and All Things Considered, occupying the top 10 of the Billboard Jazz charts for several weeks. Their second album "Book of Rhapsodies" (2013), featuring the orchestra plus a 6-person choir reached even more critical acclaim. Ghost Train Orchestra has performed sold-out shows at MoMA, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Kennedy Center, and Duke University. Their new record Hot Town with bass saxophonist Colin Stetson hits May 2015.
