HOW DOES THE MUZOOKA RADIO MONITORING AND CHARTS SYSTEM WORK?

1.

REAL-TIME BROADCAST MONITORING

Muzooka monitors over 4,900 radio stations in North America using our in-house music recognition technology. All of the stations were chosen by our industry partners, including performing rights organizations, radio promoters, record labels, music publishers, and artist managers.

2.

PRECISE MATCHING TO OUR VAST MUSIC DATABASE

Through our many partnerships, Muzooka has amassed a database containing metadata for 160M+ recordings and 60M+ compositions. We match each radio spin to the data for that song which ensures rights holders are properly paid.

3.

WEEKLY CHART GENERATION

Every Tuesday morning, Muzooka releases our charts, which are based on the previous week’s radio activity. Each tracking period is one week starting at 12:00:00am on Sunday and ending at 11:59:59pm Saturday night.

4.

WEIGHTING METHOD

We work closely with our colleagues in the radio industry to develop and maintain our weighting methods. They are based on time-tested, industry-standard metrics that have been in use for decades. Station weighting is based on listenership, area population, signal strength, and station popularity & influence. Time of day for each spin is also taken into account.

FAQ
